From childhood, my father was the ultimate storyteller, weaving wisdom into every tale. His favorite quote still resonates with me: “Measure yourself by your own yardstick, else some will measure you too short while others will measure you too long.” As a tall child, I couldn’t imagine a yardstick measuring me at all, but life’s lessons later revealed the deeper meaning behind his words.
Growing up, education was the cornerstone of my upbringing, but not just the kind taught in schools. My family emphasized learning from every experience — successes, failures, and everything in between. With a foundation rooted in curiosity and a drive for understanding, I pursued a BS from Tuskegee University and an MS from MIT in Mechanical Engineering, igniting my passion for teaching and mentorship in STEAM.
My journey as an educator has spanned nearly three decades, driven by a desire to make learning both accessible and exciting. This passion led me to establish iSprout, an innovative program focused on hands-on, STEAM-enriched experiences for students of all ages. Through iSprout, we’re cultivating a creative environment where young minds can unlock their potential and develop real-world technical skills. I believe in the thrill of learning, where children are free to roam the world of education as if they were on a trip to Disney.
I believe that we all have an inner genius waiting to sprout into our living purpose. I’m dedicated to helping the next generation find their unique path. Remembering my father’s lesson, I measure my success by the joy of seeing students explore, question, and grow. Together, we can each measure by our own yardstick and sprout to our fullest potential.
